It was quiet that day, the guns and the mortars, and land mines for some reason hadn't been heard.


The young soldier knew it was Sunday, the holiest day of the week.


As he was sitting there, he got out an old deck of cards and laid them out across his bunk.


Just then an army sergeant came in and said, 'Why aren't you with the rest of the platoon?'


The soldier replied, 'I thought I would stay behind and spend some time with the Lord.'


The sergeant said, 'Looks to me like you're going to play cards.'


The soldier said, 'No, sir . You see, since we are not allowed to have Bibles or other spiritual books in this country,


I've decided to talk to the Lord by studying this deck of cards.'


The sergeant asked in disbelief, 'How will you do that?'


'You see the Ace, Sergeant? It reminds me that there is only one God.


The Two represents the two parts of the Bible, Old and New Testaments


The Three represents the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost.


The Four stands for the Four Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John .


The Five is for the five virgins there were ten but only five of them were glorified.


The Six is for the six days it took God to create the Heavens and Earth.


The Seven is for the day God rested after making His Creation.


The Eight is for the family of Noah and his wife, their three sons and their wives -- the eight people God spared from the flood that de stroyed the Earth.


The Nine is for the lepers that Jesus cleansed of leprosy He cleansed ten, but nine never thanked Him.


The Ten represents the Ten Commandments that God handed down to Moses on tablets made of stone.


The Jack is a reminder of Satan, one of God's first angels, but he got kicked out of heaven for his sly and wicked ways and is now the joker of eternal hell.


The Queen stands for the Virgin Mary.


The King stands for Jesus, for he is the King of all kings.


When I count the dots on all the cards, I come up with 365 total, one for every day of the year.


There are a total of 52 cards in a deck; each is a week - 52 weeks in a year.


The four suits represent the four seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter.


Each suit has thirteen cards -- there are exactly thirteen weeks in a quarter.


So when I want to talk to God and thank Him, I just pull out this old deck of cards and they remind me of all that I have to be thankful for.'

I was thinking about the financial crisis and the 'Bull Shit' stimulus proposal which is as Rush Limbaugh stated and named as just 'pork-u-lous'. I understand it's the realty,..er,.. reality (what a difference an 'I' makes, and isn't that how we went broke cause the 'I' was missing,.. er being held unresponsible, unaccountable and asking for a 'bailout') we are going to be burdened by the miss deads of prior generations and administrations.

But the idea that we stick our children, grandchildren and greater grand children with the bill for what we could easily do without and correct on our own is a statement of who our "New Leader" really is.

It's time I think that 'we the people' let him know he's okay taking it easy, finding his way being the new 'leader of the free world', and that nothing is free other than the air we breathe, (until he taxes it),.. oh Al Gore is already showing him how....

I understand as a union carpenter that the apprenticeship progam takes four years training and work experience prior to become adept, adapt, enept or inept,... comfortable at your trade and being capable as 'journeyman carpenter', therfore, Baby bear Barack, will be ready next time the liberals vote him in,.. 'I' hope.

Its here, and for all the blessed and cursed,.. awe shit,.. for all the good and bad in the world, somehow people think a different result will occur from the same old shit,.. called an election by media, knowledge without facts and 'newspeak'

Yeah, that is it,.. my new job is more of the same, pay rate is close though less, and yet I believe I'll achive a different result and increased enjoyment,.. have to think like that cause 'depression hurts'! To quote a co-worker, "How ignat 'r' ya?",.. kind of sums the new year up.

For all the hoopla and election freenzy, same raw deal again. Don't like the result of the election in some cold heartless state up north, heck with the vote, sue the people in the courts and contest the results untill everyone is so fed up with you they "Give you" the office, just to place you in indifference with a federal handout called a paycheck. Yep, sums up the value of the election,.. just another puppet.

I've got to say I'm okay with Obama, no more than that, I'm sure he'll do fine, the powers that picked Bush 1 & 2, Clinton and even Jimmy Carter, picked and placed this puppet and ,... I'm glad he beat my guy,.. cause just thinking of McCain and Palin there in the white house, fightin' with the puppet master like the Kennedy of old,.. gives me the heebie jeebies,.. what was I thinkin'?

I can see it now, McCain would be 'crossing the aisle' with a fully reformist cabinet, a war hero for homie-land security, Clinton for secratary of state,.. oh,.. and then Liberman for some God Fearing post like Chief of Staff,.. or just as kitchen help,.. and then he'd like to see closer ties with Vietnam or some such nonsense.

AND Palin!!! Mercy, imagine the Christmas Holiday,.. the 'New Grandchild',.. or how about that wardrobe,..

..and assisting the poor would revert to "Our Christian Charity", better known as a "Federal Tax Deduction",.. and just like our being a 'Concerned and giving' country, most lie about the size of the "Charity Ammount", just look at the receipts for donated clothing and 'used' furniture.

Diplomacy

Diplomacy has been in action for the past eight years as evidenced by the now familiar Condi Rice, and soon to be Hillary. The question I ask, Will it be enought to stop a nuclear hot spot like the India and Pakistan tension?

And here to the south of Texas we have an undeclared war going on with enough blame to go everywhere. Events like this are daily, terrorism or house cleaning from within, it will be just a small step to organise into an organised force.

The Cartels and drug Lords are on the verge of becoming a revolutionary army between us and Mexico. The recipe is already mixed, supply line in place, just add a little Chavez, stir in Russia support and wella!

It's the events that shape a presidency, how well the president handles it is the measure of the man. Not a position that many would volunteer for in todays world.

Ah, I can see it now, soon our "Ministry of Love" will take over a Guantanamo, the newly formed "Ministry of Peace", will begin the end of conflict, even if it requires a bigger war to attain economic balance,.. er,..peace.

What brings this up that with the ever increasing unemployment, here in the United States where real numbers suggest over ten percent currently in Texas, and in the rust belt to twelve percent and higher,.. though the 'official' number is just five to six percent, and 'slightly' higher.

How is China doing? The number of people make even low unemployment percentages devastating, how to maintain control becomes the real issue. Just as in Orwells book;...that the motivation of the Inner Party is not to achieve a future paradise but to retain power, which has become an end in itself.

And the ever shifting alliances maintained an ever existing war, not for property or control, but to maintain the economic engine while controlling the population numbers through patriotism and war.

In my short lifetime since 1954 we've (U.S.) warred with China through Vietnam and Korea, then been friends in economic boons. Been in a cold war with Russia and allied in the UN. We've sided with Iran to only now wonder about Iran, Set up Qaddafi to take him down, the same with Saddam. Noriega comes to mind as well.

And soon to be passed here is the "Fairness Doctrine", where freedom of speech is taken away for 'fairness'. Any 'right wing' publication and news letter, radio show or broadcast will be "Required" to be fair,.. but who makes that decision?
